Power pack question

Well I bought the manual and did all the ignition test as indicated starting with the shift switch. Narrowed it down to the power pack. No voltage on one side for the 3 cyl's.

My question to you guys in the know is what causes the packs to go bad? Is there a typical age or hour life to them or is it a direct result of something shorting it out from the water spray that I had going on from the water pressure outlet that came undone and was undetected for some time?

Thanks

Re: Power pack question

Not too likely the water did any harm, but you never know. PP's are potted (sealed) and sometimes a component will just fail. An electrical spike also can hurt them. I've got one running for over 700 hours w/o any problems, but always carry a spare bought in the 1st month (I know these things can crap out, and they're a real show stopper.

Schematic sez the main reason for failure is faulty solder joints.

c/6

Hooty
