Hi guys

Im having issues with my late 70's Power Pilot control box which is connected to a '74 Johnson 115 model 115ESL74B . I ran the "new to me" motor on the stand last week at the sellers house w/o the controls connected, and it ran well. The problem Im having is now that the controls are connected, when I turn the key to ignition I get a warning tone right off the bat. The motor will still turn over while buzzing, choke soleniod still clicks, everything works as it should except for the instant alarm. I have connect quite a few controls in the past and Im certian that I connected the properly, but for the life of me I can not figure out why the alarm sounds??? Any help would be great! Thanks

Sounds like the tan wire is either grounded in the control box or in the mtr wiring harness somewhere back
to or on the mtr.

Thanks for the heads up boobie! Makes sense as it buzzes before I turn the key all the way over. Do you have any idea how to trouble shoot this? Could it be the sender, switch or the wire? I can see this turning into a project real quick lol.

Re: Power Pilot Warning buzzer

After some investigation I finally found the issue. Turns out whomever was in the control box last left the mounting screw for the horn loose and the tan connection was grounding against the control case. It took a couple of hours, but I'm glad it was just a easy fix. Thanks again boobie!
