During my reinstall, I could not get the ram at the end of the steering cable to fit through the bushing/wiper (#11 in picture). I removed the snap ring and removed #11 to ponder what to do, then got interrupted by my neighbor. Later mounted the actuator promising myself never to do this again.... took about an hour to install the one cotter pin due to compete lack of access.
Got home that night, emptied my pockets and there was the bushing/wiper (#11). Completely forgot about it in my rush to get the actuator installed.
So here is the question - it looks like a wiper to me and if that is correct I can install at a later date, like end of season. This area of my 20 year old boat is actually completely clean. But am I right or is it a bushing? Does not seem like one would be needed since the entire length of the tube is holding the alignment of the steering cable.
Just looking for some advice as to whether or not I need to remove/install the steering actuator again tomorrow!!!!!
