My power steering actuator is leaking and I believe it is coming from between the two parts with arrows pointing towards them in the attached picture.

I have disassembled everything up to getting these two pieces apart. Does anyone know how to get the piece with the black arrow to come out of the piece with the red arrow pointing towards it?

The picture is not of my part. I copied it from the web and added the arrows.

You might want to talk with a dealer, VP warranty lot's of these. But the on you have is the updated one, it has the blue cap.. I have fixed one before. You have to get a spanner wrench and remove the blue cap then use a impact driver and spin the nut off i used a little bit over sized o-ring on the inside of the part with the red arrow.

Thanks for the replies! I'm aware that the service manuals say it's "not serviceable". That's half the fun of trying to figure it out. I have already ordered a new unit. So if I can't get it apart, I will take a cutting wheel to it to see just exactly how these two parts are put together.

Yeah, that was a picture I copied from the web and added the arrows. I have replaced it with the picture of my actual unit. Mine is one of the older style units.

I have gotten it this far apart. Now just trying to get the two pieces apart that the arrows are pointing towards. I have tried turning out the tube that the cable slides through. It spins both directions without moving so I'm guessing it's not threaded.

It is made to not come apart.

The red arrow is pointing at the seal that was leaking. You can see the three channels that shift side to side to change the flow direction.

The yellow arrow is pointing at a split ring that is cast into the housing and keeps the it from sliding off the steering cable tube. Supposedly the new model has the split ring on the outside, the cast aluminum doesn't go as far to the left, and can be taken apart. Knowing this, I think you could grind away all the aluminum to the left of the split ring and get it apart.

Too bad it was not the rod and or the piston bi-directional ring assembly as there are kits available for those on Ebay
