I have a 19' cobalt that has a 260 mercruiser pre alpha on it. It has power steering and wants to turn right whenever i let go of the wheel. This is in or out of the water. Not sure if there is an adjustment or if i have to replace something.

Thankyou.

Re: power steering adjustment

So don't let go of the wheel!:p
Seriously, the torque of the engine will make you turn even with power steering.....
It just makes it easier for you to steer....
The only adjustment that could possibly help is by adjusting the trim zinc on the drive just like on non power steering models;).....JK

Re: power steering adjustment

That sounds like there is a problem with the power steering valve or the cylinder booster itself.

It has been awhile since I have had a Mercruiser and I don't have the manual anymore. I know there are re-seal kits available for both of these units.

Do you have a service manual?

there is an adjustment on the selector.need to remove a cap on the left side ,loosen the locknut, using an allen wrench(i think) ,adjust the stud in or out .
