Hi Don, You seem knowledgable on these steering questions and I hope you can shed some light on my issue. I have a 99 Merc 4.3 with an alpha 1 gen2. When I turn the steering all the way left or right, it will stall the motor. Motor was recently tuned up and runs fantastic and idles perfect, otherwise. Any thoughts? There's no noises or squeals and the fluid is fine.

Thanks in advance,
Christian

Hello Toofast4uu, and :welcome: on board...

Sadly we lost Don about 6 years ago. His knowledge however, lives on (as you found in that very old thread ;))...

As a request we ask not to post in threads older than 90 days (unless you are the original poster returning with an situational update), as per the forum rules, which you read though when you joined us... If you'd like to read them again, HERE is a link...

I have moved your post into a thread of it's own, and hopefully you will receive a reply from one of the many knowledgeable people still with us...

welcome aboard

first, is it the steering cable, the PS actuator or the steering pin in the gimbal that is the cause of the problem?

there are many many threads on steering. use the search function

to test the cable, you must disconnect the end of the cable at the actuator and move the steering wheel. you should be able to do it with your finger tip.
to test the drive, you must disconnect the tiller at the end of the actuator. you should be able to move the drive back and forth with your fingers

then tell us which system is sticking
