power steering oil cooler pinhole leak

ok i have an omc 4.3 liter i/o, i have been getting it ready to go and now found i have a pin hole leak in the power steering oil cooler the leak is right where the outlet to the themo meets the cooler, could i weld or solder this closed safely? , I know the best way is to replace it but I cant afford the cooler right now ,any other thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated .

Yes they can be soldered just like copper plumbing. Done it many times.

the outlets that the water hoses go to are kinda tweaked and not quite round anymore so i may take it to a radiator shop and see what they can do, or do you guys think just soldering the hole and leaving the outlets the way they are will be ok? thanks iboats has saved me many many headaches and god knows how much money.;)

Take it to a radiator shop if you can. pin hole leaks may be just the beginning of a cooler that is corroded away. You may have a pin hole leak from a cracked solder joint because it wasn't drained correctly during winter. The shop can also straighten the openings if the metal is ok.

Ayuh,... And depending on just how Tweeked it is, the Radiator Shop can make the nipples Round again...

thanks guys for the info , i am going to take it down to a place called house of hose, they work on all kinds of pnuematic and pressurized hoses and fittings, if they cant do it off to a radiator shop i go
