Power Steering Pump needed

I need a power steering pump for my Mercruiser 0L687277. It is a 2002 EFI 5.7 liter (350 cid) gas engine.
The Service manual I have shows 90507A12, but the tag on the pump reservoir says 26007703

It looks like the ordinary GM pump used on cars. I found some on EBAY, but would prefer to cross mine over to one I can get from GM direct, or NAPA, Autozone, etc.

Any help on this?

Keep the valve outa yers, 'n put it into the new one ya get,.....

It's the Big nut, where the outlet hose screws into,....

I'm coming up at Mercruiser and mercruiserparts (BAM) with your pump number being 16792A39
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/31746/4848/250

Part number you listed 90507A12 Is for the hydraulic ram.

All that said, I can verify that I have the same pump on both my boats, and all you need to buy is the Saginaw pump but make sure to hang on to the pressure fitting which screws into the back. This fitting is where the high pressure hose is installed. In link below it has the red plastic cap on it.

So if you buy an automotive pump, make sure to swap the rear fitting, Mercs use higher pressure then cars/trucks

I put on a plain ole pump from a 90's chevy application. You'll need to keep your old valve off your old pump and exchange it to the new pump. Don't waste your money on a genuine "MERC" one. Remember, you'll need a pulley puller that you can loan out at most auto parts stores.

Most GM vehicles runn 1200-1400 psi

Been unable to verify this info the type 1 pump (850 psi) we are discussing, type 2 maybe. Do agree that the pump pressure regulator can be changed by modifying the valve as per your link.

This all comes from we replacing the pump on my cruiser with the standard GM pump. It worked but was harder to steer the faster the boat accelerated, and was not as easy during idle.

Want to get this right on the pump pressure. It's a tough job to extract the pump from a cramped bilge. What's the verdict?

The boat is a 2003. For all I know, the pump has been replaced with an automotive one, and was operating at the wrong pressure. However, on a 780 mile cruise a couple months ago, the steering got harder and harder. It wasn't losing fluid. On the way back a couple weeks ago, it was very difficult to operate. I spoke to an experienced tech about halfway home. He came up with about 10 different possibilities, like rusted/stuck control valve, etc. Based on my hydraulics system experience, and the age of the boat, my best guess is the pump. Maybe it is something else, but it's relatively easy to replace, and not too expensive, and then I don't have to worry about that for a while. I just want to make sure to get the right pump, and the right pressure control valve.

I found this ad for a marine Saginaw pump. It states a max pressure of 1500 psi:

Comments?

If you but a Mercruiser pump as the one in the link it will work. If you buy the standard Saginaw pump and use your relief valve it to will work. The manual for the pump should output be between 1150 and 1250 psi. Here is part of the section
