power tilt and trim

I have a 1989 mariner 150, I was running along and my motor lifted all the way up. The fluid resivour was emty, I refilled but the motor would not go back down, The pump runs but the motor will not move. I had to break the bottom line loose to manualy lower the motor, I was 6 miles out on the gulf. What do I need to do to get it fixed.

When you refilled, did you bleed any air out?

Hello! Problems with my tilt/trim on my Merc 150 appear related (as you'll see in recent chats from me to the message board). I'm still working at solutions, however you might be able to help me by telling me how you found out your motor to be an '89. Did the aluminium tag back of the flywheel carry a number like C127254? I'm already suspecting that I have an '89 too, going by the "C and the first digit of the rest of the number. But I cannot be absolutely sure. In case I have to replace the tilt motor I'll need to identify the motor by year for sure. <br /><br />I wish you success and great boating!<br /><br />Gil
