Glastron power tilt gauge problem. When under power, gauge shows tilt down. When I hit the trim switch to raise the outdrive, drive raises but gauge still registers in the down position. Anything to check before I buy a new gauge?

You?ll want to verify the problem is the gauge and not the sender. Senders fail more often than the gauge. I/O or outboard? Got a multimeter?

Test the gauge first

http://www.beede.com/TS-G.htm

This article indicates that disconnecting the S terminal should peg the needle to the left, but instructions from my tilt/trim gauge indicates the needle should peg to the right. Doesn?t really matter though. What you?re looking for needle to peg one side with S disconnected and the other side with S disconnected and grounded.

One of the wires usually breaks on the trim sending units causing false trim readings. look on the side of the outdrive you should see the round sending unit with 2 wires, I am willing to bet, a wire is broken.
