Hi, my 1988 60hp Evinrude model #E60TLCCR has an inoperable tilt n trim. The electric motor has a lot of dirt an rust on the connections under the cap, I removed the whole unit an have it on the bench. Are the magnets supposed to be affixed to the cover? They are loose, also the oil pump assembly has two locations for the drive coupling but only one drive coupling. Can I get a rebuild kit or do you have to replace motor as a unit? Thanks Neil74

Id bet you can find the brushes SOMEWHERE in an elec.supply, you can glue the magnets.Use JB weld epoxy or the like sold at hardware stores.as for orings, they can be purchased from a dealer, but I bet u can also get them from hardware store with a good selection,I would clean the housing good and paint it with a rust converting fluid a few times then a good paint or even an epoxy. They do sell plastic replacement motors .Its just time and labor for an experiment

This is true Mike, plenty of time. The brushes are in good shape, the springs are rusted an collapsed. The o-rings are questionable but probably easily replaced. Not sure what glue to use because I think the magnets need to be able to ground to the cover. With some epoxies it'll be a one time shot. Maybe some Indian head Shellac?

Check shop.evinrude.com . They have a few different brush and seal kits for your motor that range from $65 to $90. If you don't won't to buy there at least you will be able to get part numbers.

Thanks I'll check there now, thought I saw that only a new motor was available. yup you're right I'll have to check motor for numbers, thanks for pointing that out. I hate just replacing something that can be re-built.
