power tilt/trim 1982 johnson 90hp v-4

my tilt/trim on my johnson has started to slow down significantly. It is going down slowly and not coming up without a little help. Any suggestions on what to do with it. I have the OMC service manual but I was hoping to get some input from someone on here with experience. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It is possible that your motor is getting tired or the Thru tube could be corroding.<br /><br />You could also looses the steering nuts a tiny bit and see if this helps. They are the large nuts on either side of the thru tube.<br /><br />TMD

does anyone have any suggestions on how to service the tilt and trim unit on these motors?? Any help is appreciated...
