I pulled the powerhead on my 235 johnson outboard disconnecting all wiring but now I need to tilt my lower end up to trailer the boat to storage. I have a green and blue wire on one plug and a double black on another plug that goes to the power tilt I tried to jump them off a battery with no luck. Is there any other way to raise this up so I can tow the trailer?

Re: power tilt

You have an emergency release valve that will allow you to raise it but I'm not sure where it is on your motor.

Re: power tilt

The cable w/the 2 black wires is your trim sensor, which if you did put across your battery may now be blown. The cable with the blue & green wires is the T&T motor and should have tilted the motor when attached to the battery. Did the motor run when attached to the battery? I believe the green wire to the positive terminal and blue to the negative will raise the motor. If not, reverse them. Hope your sensor is still OK. Check it with an ohm meter. It should have around 140 ohms through the travel of the sensor arm between the two black wires.

As said, there is a manual release valve that would allow the motor to be raised by hand. Look for a large slotted screw head through a hole in the starboard mounting bracket.

that worked and the ohms are fine on the blacks, thanks Jeff
