I have an 06 Glastron gx205. I bought it last year towards the end of the year. I think I remember having to turn the key to to on last year to run radio, lights, blowers, bilge pump, etc.. When I took it in to be winterized and didn't think about checking the battery before hand. I hooked it up this year and every works with key off. Is that right? Was last year a figment of my imagination?

Everything has its own toggle switch on the dash. At the battery on the ground side, there is the heavy engine ground cable, a mid sized cable, and a small wire. Positive is stater cable, fused accessory wire, and fused bilge wire( not sure but thing it is bilge blower not pump).

Thanks,

Cory

no that certainly doesn't sound right, everything else sounds right including the bilge pump NOT blower being wired directly to the battery. Something has changed and needs to be looked at, if you have not changed anything then all of your accessories should be wired to turn on with the ignition or the accy position of the ignition switch.

Re: Power to acessories

All my accessories on my boat work with key in the off position. Hell everything works without the key even being in the ignition.

Re: Power to acessories

Normally, all essential circuits are wired directly to the battery and can activated without a key. Things like lights, blower, bilge pump, anchor, etc are usually keyless operations. I've never had a boat with an accy position on the key switch but if you had one, you could use it for something like a radio I guess. My Smart Craft and analog fuel gauge are the only things that are on a key-on circuit.

I think you aren't remembering correctly. The items you mentioned should NOT be wired through the ignition switch, so your boat is working the way it's supposed to.

Re: Power to acessories

on my boat,

bilge is direct to battery

Radio is switched with the ignition

Blower is direct to battery(through battery switch)

Lights are direct to battery(through battery switch)

So when I turn my battery switch off only the Bilge pump has power, when the battery switch is on (1,2 or both) I have blower and lights and the radio only has power with the ignition switch

Sorry for the confusion I just woke up.....
