It varies with the engine and hull--that's the purpose of the jackplate.

You start with the cavitation plate even with the bottom as yours is and then raise it in incrementsof 1/4 to 1/2 inch until it starts to cavitate on the straight. Then lower it one step. This should give you maximum performance from the engine.

Put it (anti-ventilation plate) up 2" above bottom of keel.

It's the starting point for 6" setback jackplates.

Is your transom notched? Small step at the bottom. If so go another inch up.
