I want to check the trim cylinder fluid on my 89 5.0 cobra. The OEM manual states to raise the drive in full tilt position. Should I support the drive in full tilt, before opening the reservoir, before checking the fluid?

Any other "cautions" I should take before opening it?
Thx MB

Nope,... The weight of the drive is supported by the valvin', not the reservoir cap....

Re: Power trim cylinder

So you run the trim all the way up to check and fill the reservoir? Didn't know that. What oil do you use, transmission fluid?

Re: Power trim cylinder

Mine [according to my manual] calls for OMC Power Trim/Tilt or Dextron II auto trans fluid, which is what I used.
