The CMC units are very good units Raven and you get a jack-plate to boot. If you go this route, be sure the steering cable dosen't have to much of a bend in it to get to the motor. The CMC units are also cheaper than OEM TNT units.

Yep....not impling yer' a monkey though.... :)

Comes with instructions that are pretty well thought out. Basic needs are drill and 1/2" bit. Wrenchs. No big deal.

EDIT: And a way to support the engine while your going through the mounting process.

Ok, I got a CMC pt130 unit. Hooked it up to a 90 model 40 horse Johnny on a BassTracker Pontoon boat. The Steering cable won't hook up from it's original hole in the pontoon boat due to the 6 inch setback of the johnson. Any ideas?

The cable won't make the bend. The existing hole is pretty close to the end of the boat. Can I just take it out of the existing hole and route it back behind the ledge or does it have to have the support of the hole/ledge

Is the steering cable to short or it just won't make the bend? You might have to re-route the cable. Any chance of moving the hole back?

Sure ya' can. If you can get a couple places for wire ties, these would keep it from flopping around and your good to go.

Finaly got it. Had to cut a 2" hole in the verticle alum. piece that holds the battery box. The CMC pt 130 works like a dream. Other than the steering cable hassle, it was a peice of cake to install. Might be that the problem was because of putting it on a 'Toon instead of conventional boat.
