power trim motor , how many bolts hold it in place?

i have a 1998 nitro 884 savage,the power trim on the motor works then stops then works only when i bang on the motor with a hammer,QUESTION?<br /><br />HOW MANY BOLTS DO I NEED TO REMOVE TO GET THE POWER TRIM MOTOR OFF?<br /><br />i am able to get 2 bolts off,i cant see any more bolts in the back,oil started leakin a little when i had the 2 bolts out and moved the motor up a little,i didnt want to force the motor not knowing if theres more bolts behind the motor which i didnt get out,is there?<br /><br /> mike

Mike,<br /><br />The 2 you've undone are all that hold the motor/pump in. It's a tight fit so it'll need some 'convincing'. Careful though, those mounting lugs are only plastic and break off real easy.<br /><br />Chris.............<br /><br />I assume it looks like this <br /><br />

thanx dude,<br />ill carefully remove it to inspect the brushes...<br />im sure thats what the problem is,ive been told they are quite easy to replace,ill let cha know what happens.....<br /><br /> mike

Mike,<br /><br />Just be careful with the pump on the end. It's a 'throw-a-way' item if you break it. If you want the screed on replacing the brushes, post your e-mail and I'll send it.<br /><br />Chris.......

Speaking of which, I bought a boat with a Mariner 150 HP. The trim does nothing, but the relays do test ok. I checked the electric trim motor for continuity and it shows a good circuit on all leads. There's fluid in the reservior, but the outboard is almost full down. What's my next move, remove the electric motor with those two bolts? I've manually jacked the outboard up about halfway and propped it up with 2X4's. I noticed the fluid goes down a bit as I jacked it up. SHould I be able to hear the electric motors run?
