Some Mercs use 30 wt (10w-30 in today's oil market) oil and others ATF which is somewhere around 15-20w. Quicksilver makes a fluid for said item. I don't think it really matters. Want an oil to lubricate the moving parts and be compressible and thin enough to be fluid at low temps that some boaters experience.
