I live in Michigan. During the spring summer and fall my power trim works perfect every time. Once it starts to get colder in the fall my power trim UP will intermittently work. The down still works perfectly but for whatever reason it works on and off when trying to trim up. I am afraid to put my boat in the water in fear that i may not be able to get the motor to trim back up when ready to leave. Any one have any ideas on what i can do to fix this? The winter walleye are calling my name and i dont think we will be getting any ice this year.

There could be two things wrong. the 2 relays as raceone mentioned.
if not the brushes on the power trim motor. it is a easy job to change if you have the boat on a trailer.

if you can't get your motor down. you can loosen the bypass vale on the starboard side of the power trim. then the motor will go down.

I'll go with racer's comment. Cold weather means thicker fluid which requires more power to do the same job. More power means more current. If the contacts in the up relay/solenoid are pitted due to age and normal arcing you have less ability to provide the necessary power. Up requires more effort than down so one can expect the decay of the UP relay contacts to be quicker.
