Sea Ray mercruiser A1 gm 305 1978(prestolite power trm pump)
The one of the two hoses of power trim pump goes to the plate where there is the the shift adjustment mechanism .There, in the opposite side of the automatic switch there is a small housing with two notches for adjust and the one hose is connected there. At the base of this housing there is leaking of pump's oil.I want to dissasemble and check what is going on there but my manual does't include this point.May anybody tell me if there is any relation between power trim and shift adjustment ?What is the role of this housing i am refering to and if you have any adress to see how this is dissasembled and adjusted.
Thanks in advance

Re: power trim question

There is no relationship between shifting and trim on the shift plate, however, the pump does hook to a reverse lockout mechanism. I don't have a manual available right now, so can't help with answering your questions completely.
The other problem is the year of your engine and drive.
You say 78, which is probably the year of your boat. The year of the engine and drive could be a 77 very easily.
78 was the year seperate manuals for engine and drives came out, 77 was all the same manual. You really need a SN to find out what you really have.
