Power Trim Question

I'm sure this is not the best place to post this, but maybe someone can help out. I have a 1973 Starcraft Holiday with a Mercruiser 140 hp engine. I bought it about a month ago, and am almost ready to get her in the water. My power trim will only trim up if the boat is in neutral. I haven't owned a boat in a while, but this seems strange to me. Should't I be able to trim the motor up while the boat in moving? Is this a common setting in older boats? Is there a limit switch that I may be able to adjust? I don't know the model of the trim motor, let me know if that is needed and I will try and get it. Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Power Trim Question

you only have tilt, you do not have trim n tilt. so it will only move in neutral.

Re: Power Trim Question

Your trim switch needs adjustment and make sure the wires are not broken as they run through the transom behind the engine. You should be able to trim in forward & neutral only.
