I HAVE A 1986 JOHNSON 110 HP, Latetly it seems to struggle half way up, then when its nearly up it works great and sounds normal , it just seems to be slower to pop up and sounds sick! Would changing the oil help ? is it a big job ? Thanks..

Have you verified that the oil in the T&T is full?

Re: POWER TRIM SLOW !

Steps to check/top off, not change, the fluid.

1. Raise the engine all the way up.

2. Look for the plug about half way up on the trim motor/manifold assembly. This will be the assembly between the clamp brackets (transom mounts).

3. Remove the plug. If you get a slight drip of fluid, it's full. If not, go to #4.

4. Add fluid until it runs out the hole.

5. Cycle the engine up and down several times, recheck the level and refill, if necessary.

Use OMC tilt/trim fluid-or equivelant. You will not need much.

Also check the tilt tube. This is the tube that the engine pivots on and the same one the steering cable goes through. If it is correded, or lacking grease, inside. It may bind.
