First post as a newbie. Hope I’m in the right forum. I have an 1988 Classic Fifty which originally came with no Tilt Trim. I recently purchased an 1997 Mercury Force 50 hp with a blown motor, but the power trim is in excellent shape. It’s my intention to somehow install this trim unit on my old Classic and I could use any help provided. Chances of the trim unit fitting the old transom bracket is slim but thinking I maybe able to pull the swivel pin and interchange the whole bracket including the trim unit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had 2 Mercs with that kind of PTT and I agree with what you said. I'd chance it....nothing ventured, nothing gained.......or lost. The glass is "Half Full".

The other thing to look at is the 4 mounts on the midsection to the swivel bracket. If the spacing is the same, swap the TnT motor bracket to the '88 Classic Fifty. I don't the spacing details, but worth checking.

That is my thinking too. Still pondering other alternatives as well. One way or another I'm going to make this work. I have some skills but not much money. This trim tilt unit was in my budget but a factory correct installation is not.
