power trim + tilt not working

I have a 1987 110 HP Johnson with the power trim and tilt not working properly. It will lift the motor but will not lower it. The fluid is full and the elec. motor is working, it runs the motor up, but just runs when I hit the down button. When I manually lower the motor with the release valve the shock will lower but the trim posts stay up.

Most likely the motor/pump is low on fluid. Do a search under tilt/trim you will find out how to fill up properly.<br /><br />Greg Hodges

Fivestar thanks for the reply, I've checked the fluid level and its ok, the trim motor works but won't lower the motor.

DE<br />Try lifting and lowering it a few time manually, the pressure in the cylinders probably isn't up to snuff.You have to build up pressure, and hopefully there isn't any air in there!If all that doesn't work. Remove the screw for the fluid intake and try lowering the pistons to the bottom. Refill the pistons with more fliud. pressure in the cylinders is a must!<br />Good luck <br />Deuce
