Power Trimmotor going bad?

On my Merc 150 XR4, the trim has been working relatively slowly recently,
but all of the sudden, the trim does not work at all any more. I have a full charge on both the trolling and the cranking batteries, but still almost nil response.

Is the trim motor bad?

I would think it would be weird if it had worked all summer then nothing (even if I felt it was slow)

Thanks

Assuming that all the wires are still fine, and power is actually still getting to the trim motor, I'd say brushes will be my next suspect.

Re: Power Trimmotor going bad?

You need to determine if power is getting to the motor. Put a voltmeter on the motor (+ on Blue and - on black wires) and hit the trim switch. You should see full battery voltage. If you do, it is likely the motor has open circuit. If voltage is low and wire gets warm, the motor has a short. If you do not get voltage then either your trim switch is bad, the trim solenoids are bad or the battery conection is bad.
