Recently found an old 1/2 filled can of Mercury Power Tuner, was doing the factory recommended 300 hours routine maintenance on a Tohatsu 18 HP, so after work completion, started the engine and squirted 1/8 can through the carb untill engine stalled out, let stand for 1 hour turning flywheel each 1/2 hour for the foam to be evenly distributed through engine interior. Started the engine and went for a 5 minute full throttle operation, the engine sounds evenly, great music and with slight more power than before. Was wondering how many of you guys use similar products periodically and what was the result of it's use compared to not using it at all. This product is intended for boaters that do not add carbon cleaners into gas tanks periodically.

We buy it by the case under one brand name or another. It makes a great metal cleaner and will dissolve some carbon build up...It also doubles as the worlds worse carburetor cleaner:)

Agreed with Elvin on that product. Tohatsu calls it "Engine Tuner". I have a fleet/school customer whose motors are really used hard. Sometimes the operators use way too much choke, and the chambers get pretty coked up. Those motors get a full can each every spring as I pull them out of storage and do the seasonal setup.

I'm an OMC guy who wandered in here looking for something. I use BRP's "Engine Tuner," which is probably a very similar product. I like it quite a bit and prefer the simplicity over using Seafoam, which many here at iboats seem to like.

I am in an area were I can use my boat 12 months per year, so I usually decarb with the BRP product about twice a year. I also use a high quality semi-synthetic two stroke oil (Pennzoil), which helps keep the coking down.

Hola Jay

If you use your boat all year round as I do, how many boating hours can you make in 6 months? being a fan of tiny tacks, usually squirt some engine tuner and let penetrate for 1 hour, did so each 150 metered hours when product was available, some brands as Evinrude recommends to do so each 100 worked hours if using non decarbonizing products mixed with gasoline.

I don't really keep track, but I think I'm at quite a bit more then 150 hours between applications of BRP Engine Tuner. I suspect that I am at 500+ hours per year on my J65, so every six months would be 250+ hours between applications.
