At my sailing school we have two rescue boats, both Dell Quay Dory 13's, one with a 30hp 'rude and the other with a 25hp johnson seahorse. We've chosen to survey our entire fleet and i've been tasked with drawing up all the forms. Is there anything I should include?(i've made the form already, i can send it out for you to look at and add too) Thanks for your help<br />P.S. i'm not sure this is the right forum for this, feel free to move me out!

Re: Powerboat Survey

This may be the right place. You didn't tell us what the survey is for or what data you are trying to collect. Kinda hard to provide any input.

Re: Powerboat Survey

We're surveying the boats for maintenance purposes so we can do the costing for and better co-ordinate our out of saeson maintenance program. I need to find all the faults so I thought I'd ask the experts to tell me what I may not know to look for, sorry for being unclear.

I don't know that I'd go looking for faults but you can stay on top of annual manitenance by examining and changing plugs, doing a compression check, changing the gear oil and replacing the water pump and thermostats if they haven't been done in a couple of years. That plus hitting all the grease fittings and prop shaft (Yes check the props for bent blades/nicks) should do it.
