Should the connecting rods have a slight play when attached to the crank, or should it be snug with no play whatsoever? i have cylinders 1-4 with a slight play side to side, and cylinders 5-6 are snug, can't move them at all.. the crank seems to turn over fine, but when i put it together last time i could hear a tapping/knocking noise what sounded like from cylinders 5&6, i got another new set of bearing, re-honed all of the cylinders, and the crank looks great otherwise. Please any advice would be great! thanks a ton!

Measure the journals and rods (or have it done) and be sure that they are still:
A. Round
B. Within spec. (per manual)

c/6

Hooty
