93' 115 johnson 90degree. Changed angine spark plugs and plug wires. Started engine, and was not firing on the top port side cylinder. changed plug wire still not firing. changed ignition pack with another cylinder, then all cylinders started firing.
I performed the test in the seloc manual. with the 10watt 10ohm resistor. Did not have any voltage at all. should be 150 volts according to manual. My ? am i testing the coil wrong? I hooked the load up exactly as the manual stats. Also after the test, the engine ran. Also my original problem is it will not reach WOT, only 4200rpm with a 13x19 prop, on a 17 foot nitro

Re: Powerpack problem?

The RPM could be trim related. Are you using power trim? If not, have you tried all the manual trim positions? I have a 17' Lund [semi-tri hull] with the same prop [13x19] and a 135 HP evinrude. I only get 4200 RPM's but I haven't had the opportunity to test all the trim positions, etc.

If the all the cylinders started firing after changing the packs around I would suspect a bad wiriing connection. Disconnect and clean all the wires you had disconnected and then try again.
