Greetings: I own a 2006 150T Lowe V-bottom aluminum boat. The motor is a 40hp E-tec, tiller. This boat has a trim/tilt toggle switch at the bow of the boat next to the T-motor connection. It does not work. What is the best way to go about connecting that toggle or trouble shooting it? Thanks

Re: PowerTrimSwitch

Does the trim switch work at the motor? If it does, you will have to remove the bow switch, and check that the connections are there and clean, and check that the switch is in working order. You may need to trace the wires going to the motor, and check them out for brakes in the wire, and connections at the motor. A multimeter comes in handy for some of the checks. A factory service manual for the motor, would come in handy too, for color of the wires, and switch connections.

Yes the power trim on the motor AND the tiller arm work fine. If it warms up a bit, I will take the panel off at the bow switch in order to check out the wiring. I am guessing that the bow switch has never been connected to the trim motor. Someone else had told me that wiring in a bow switch can be very tricky and can easily mess up the switches on the motor. Have you heard of, or experienced that problem. Thanks again

Its not tricky. The bow switch is connected in parallel with all the other trim/tilt switches. Just make sure you connect the wires from the bow switch the same as the other switches. If their colored that means the colors are connected red to red, black to black, etc.

Re: PowerTrimSwitch

The bow switch should have 3 wires, the center should be 12Volt positive. Then one side is the up and one side down. They do not hook directly to the trim motor, but should be hooked to operate the relays or solenoids that operate the trim on the motor.
You would need to have a wiring diagram for your motor if you aren't sure about the wiring.
