Pre-Alpha 140 - Water in engine oil

Hello folks,

I have noticed water leaking from the gasket between my manifold and engine block. It seems to drip fairly steadily whether on muffs or in the water. Since having it in the water though I noticed water appearing in my oil as well.

My first thought is cracked block. However is it possible that a failed gasket is allowing water inside the engine as well as dripping on the outside? The engine runs like a top, never stutters or misses, idles nice and low, has excellent power and all.

Any info as always is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

If you remove the exhaust manifold, you will find it's not a gasket leaking. You will find a crack in the block about a half inch below the head gasket.
Pull the lifter covers off the other side of the engine, and you will probably find cracks in there as well. That's where the water gets into the oil.

Thank you for the info Don. At this point I am questioning whether to replace the engine, or the entire boat. Gotta see what's out there I guess.

Thanks again!
