Thanks for this great forum. I have spent many hours reading and learning. I have a mercruiser 165 out drive that I have been trying to bleed the air out of the trim system. The trim motor runs fine both up and down. Down works fine. Up does not move and the trim pump spins faster Making me think I have air somewhere. I have filled the reservoir and the air bleed screw is out. I have ensured that the trim hoses are attached to the correct fittings. I am able to push the trim cylinders in and out with hoses removed. I get fluid out of hoses when down button pushed, but no fluid out when up is pushed. I have the Selig mercruiser manual. Any fix to this or tricks. Thanks very much. I have tried the bleeding procedure a couple times. This is the two hose trim type. Sorry seloc manual.

remove the rams from the drive and let them hang down, pay attention to the oil level and do not let the pump suck air, extend the rams fully PAYING ATTENTION TO THE OIL LEVEL
Retract the rams fully PAYING ATTENTION TO THE OIL LEVEL, system should be air free now.

The only way I am able to extend the rams is by unhooking the lines and pulling them. I have tried pulling on them while pushing the up buttons for trailering but they won't move. Could a valve be stuck not allowing the oil to be pushed out during the up mode or air?

might be a pump issue, try reversing the lines at the rams. if they now extend using the down button, you have a pump problem

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I appreciate your time. Pump runs both ways, but spins faster and does not move rams when trailer button pushed.
