there's trim function which raises the drive from it's lowest position of the drive to only tilted some up. use this is to trim the boat for best operation while running. this limit switch prevents the ujoints from being over angle + prevents the drive from escaping the gimble ring support flanges. trailer function raises the drive to it's full up position so ya can trailer it or possible shallow water operation (not to exceed 1200 rpm) to operate this, pressing the in switch is down. pressing the up/out button only is trim function and drive will only raise so far. pushing up and up/out together and the drive will raise to it's full up condition.what do you mean by trailer function ????? and how does it work

Don't do it , you will blow the gears right out of the out drive if you tilt too high!!! Grainger has a similar switch like the original , BUCKS....
