pre alpha water pump question.

Today I got the outdrive, what I figured out is pre alpha off the boat.
all came apart with no problem, except the lower half of the water pump, which is plastic.

I didnt want to take a chance on breaking it, because of it being plastic, so left it there. Of course the impeller was toast and the lower of the water pump looks original so I would like to replace it.

Q. does this lower half of the water pump come out? If so, then how?

Just pry it up with a screwdriver, just remove all the loose debris around it first so it dosent fall into the drive
