I have recently purchased a 1993 Mercury 115 and was wondering what the oil/fuel mixture was and what do I need to do to the oil pump to convert it?

Thank You....is This Safe To Do? Alot Of People Tell Me I Should Just In Case The Pump Goes...

Oil injection for a 1993 motor is known to be reliable, unlike earlier models which used the Autoblend (boat mounted) system. I'd leave the oil injection intact on your 1993 motor and save a lot of headaches.

The headache I was referring to is having to mix oil. The oil injection you have is reliable. If mixing oil is not a hassle for you, then I suppose there is no reason why you can't. Just seems unnecessary, and you'll likely find your motor runs a bit rich on oil (more smoke) at slow speeds in comparison to using the current oil injection system. All of my motors do not have oil injection, and I'm quite tired of having to do it manually.

Up to you :)

Happy boating.

I'll throw in my 2 cents, if you care to hear it. the 1993 oil injection system may be fairly reliable. However, pre-mix is 100% reliable!! It is impossible to starve the engine for oil if you premix. The downside, as stated, is it runs really rich at idle, which harms the environment. Lets face it, one reason we love boating is because we love the beauty of the water. If you ruin that, what's left?

i've been useing esso synthetic blend noticeable difference in performance , almost no smoke unlike other brands that claim to be and it claims to break down into a non or less toxic substance - also less carbon build up .
