Is safe to use premium unleaded for 2 strokes engines? I have 89 Force 50hp engine that would like to reduce smoke. Currently, I'm using regular unleaded fuel and mixing with Valvoline 2 stroke oil 50:1 ratio. Any recommendations. Thank you.

Reduce smoke try clean out carbs, needles. Run different oil first off, some semi syns or full syns will work great. Higher octane is better for higher compression motors. Higher the octane slower fuel burns and more complete. 89octane is fine, try some different plugs Not champion

You don't need high octane. To reduce smoke use Am-sol or a good brand like Mercury or OMC.J

It doesn't matter what type of fuel you use it's still gonna smoke...besides...the smoke smells good :)

I always run highest octane available(93) in 2 strokes. They have higher static and dynamic compression ratios then 90% of four strokes. Especially older ones with carbon build up as a possibility. Its better for the longevity of the crank and wrist pins to avoid any potential pre-detonation under load. IMO its worth a few extra pennys for better fuel.

We have a gas station here in York that sells 92 octane ethanol-free gas. I use it on every fill up. It may be 3.15 per gallon, but I fell it woth it.
