You want to find out why it needs assistance to get it started. Are the plugs fresh, is the ignition system up to snuff, is the carb clean and properly adjusted, are you performing proper starting procedures? You shouldn't need to squirt anything in there, but if you absolutely cannot get it started any other way, then use premix, maybe in a chemically resistant spray bottle. Just keep in mind the hazards of having gasoline in a spray bottle on a boat, not the safest thing in the world. WD-40 isn't flammable anymore (at least the stuff I am getting isn't), and like Willy said, starting fluid can strip the surfaces of the oil they need. I'd check the setup first. Good luck...
