I've gotten all the parts i need on my lower unit rebuild (1987 johnson 90). Any advice or tips on pulling the bearings? Iknow the pinion bearing need a special tool, unless anyone has a procedure to share.
I'm thinking the carrier and shift assembky bearings are going to be a pill to pull.

When removing bearings in aluminum parts you use heat !---------They often will fall out.----Yes they will.

Aluminum expands more / faster than steel.-----Therefor many bearings are removed / installed using heat.-----Put the hammers away !

Abgarza, you have more guts than me I admire that. My lu may need a rebuild but until further testing I am not certain. Keep us posted on how that goes for you. I read my manual and am intimidated by all the special tools indicated to get the job done. Good Luck.

It's just gotta get done. If I screw it up, I would have had to take it into shop anyway. This way I learn something...and boy am I learning.
