Re: pressure pump wont stop

Look for a pressuere switch that shuts the pump on & off. It is stuck or defective.

The switch in the bathroom turns it on and off and that is fine, the pump used to turn off automatically with the switch on and now just runs on.Charlie

Stuck pressure switch or leaky water lines.

I am assuming that the switch in the bathroom is the pressure switch.Should I be looking for something on the pump body .Charlie

Re: pressure pump wont stop

my fresh water pump has the pressure switch attached to the pump body. The pump has only two cables, one black (which is ground) and one red (which is the positive 12V feed). The red cable passes through the pressure switch so when pressure rises at the water out fitting, the 12V supply is interrupted. If the pressure decreases because you open a shower or whatever, then the pump is activated again. There is one adjustment screw in the pressure switch. It allows you to set the pressure at which the 12V feed is interrupted. Turning the screw in one direction decreases the "set point" ; turning it in the other direction increases the "set point".

Look for water leaks in hoses or taps. My pump started "blinking" the other day (switching on and off continuously) because of a small leak at the shower.
