Pressure Test Fitting

The descriptions of home made pressure test setups seem to use the fitting from an old oil pump as the adapter to the drain or vent holes. Are there any other common fittings that would work instead? My supply of gear oil pumps are all shove in plastic types.

Thanks,

John

Re: Pressure Test Fitting

From memory, most vent/fill plugs are 3/8-16 UNC. When I can't find my fitting I drill a hole through a 3/8 bolt and cut the head off.

Except for the Japanese made motors (Yamaha, some Mariner, etc.) which use metric threads. You could either do the same with a metric bolt or buy an adaptor at West or similar store.
