Need to replace floor and one 2x4 stringer in my old boat.

Question is, Can I use std 4x8 sheet of 1/2" treated plywood from Lowes? Will the resin, fiberglass cloth adhere to it well enough be water proof again?

Where do you guys get marine plywood in the South/North Carolina area?

Thanks again for the info...

You can but you'll need to dry it out for a few weeks.

Appreciate quick response, do you mean the sheet of plywood needs to dry before applying the resin?

Or does the finished 'glass application in the boat need to dry for a couple of weeks prior to use?

Thanks...

You need to dry out the wood and or plywood completely prior to applying
any finish. Do so out of the sun. GH

The problem with pressure treated plywood is warping, hence the drying factor but you will still get warping. May not be enough to be a problem who knows.

Most people use exterior plywood from Lowes for structural stuff. The exterior part refers to the glue used in the ply, not the wood itself. Coat it well with expoxy or poly resin and a layer of csm and you should be fine for the deck and laminted you can use it for the stringer.

You can also order Marine grade plywood from Lowes... takes a few days for it to come in..

I and doing a full refit / restore on mine including new deck / stringers / bulkheads and will be using the exterior grade b-c from Lowes, 3/4 inch is around $32 a sheet...

the marine grade is about $20 more per sheet... but is supposed to have less voids on the interior plys than standard exterior grade...
