Price and Power of Monkey Ward 9hp??

A fellow in town took in what he believes to be a 1986-7 9HP Sea King. He is thinking of asking me $250 if he gets it running. I think that's a fair price, caveat emptor, of course. But would it be strong enough to be a trolling motor on my 17' Seaswirl Striper? Or at least emergency pwer home if my 90 hp poops out?

Keep in mind your motor is an off brand orphan built for M/W probably by Chrysler/Force Parts are<br />available but can be hard to find and pricey.<br /> there are some of us that feel they have a reputation for poor performance and reliability.
