What would you guys see as a fair price for this boat? I bought it a few months ago, and I stripped the rotten floor. The Transom may have a few years left. I bought it for what I think would be a great price ($500). I was determing if I could make money off it by selling it now or putting a lot of time and effort into replacing the floor and cosmetics...and then keeping it or selling it. I know refinishing boats is the best way to make money, if any. BTW the motor runs after I put a new impeller in it. Any thoughts??

Fair price.. Very tuff to say... Location... In one part of the country it may be worth 1500 (as it sits), in another part of the country you may be lucky to get 500 for it...

Look around in your area first and see what the going price is on something similar in both current and what would be finished condition..

My 2 cents, First i'd sit down and do some figuring on cost of materials, then if the $$$ for materials is right, I'd complete the project.. Document the project with plenty of pictures and keep all the recepts for materals which helps when you sell it..

I did an 18' Starcraft last winter.

In my part of the country (Chicago area), that's not a bad deal (more based on the motor than the boat). Depending on what you mean by 'cosmetics', you could really be talking some major $$$. Just putting in some plywood, and maybe some new carpet, will probably run you another $100 (more, if you use marine plywood, or go for fancy carpet).

I'd think you could spruce things up a little, and maybe double your money (but a lot depends on where you're at).

As for your comment, " I know refinishing boats is the best way to make money ", I have some doubts about that!

Finally, you say the O/B runs now that you put an impeller in it. Did it NEED one (or was it just a weak output)? I ask, because if it overheated, you might have some major $$$ ahead of you.

Post over in the Project Boats forum, if you have questions about the rehab process.

the impellar volume was just low. It didn't over heat to the best of my knowledge. Refering to your quote where i wrote "I know refinishing boats is the best way to make money". I meant to say "I know refinishing boats is not the best way to make money" I should have proofread my post.Oops... I'm located in Columbus, IN south of Indianapolis. thanks for the thoughts
Karrick
