Merry Christmas to you all.
Does the spark in this engine come progressively later while increasing rpm?And if this is correct,
then while synchronizing, I move first movement on the carburator shaft slightly past the primary pick up location. Will this cause spark earlier in the upward stroke, creating higher compression but not yet pinging, or just the opposite and get spark when the downward stroke starts?
Thanks to anyone who can explain this to me.

As you accelrate, the spark comes earlier, firing the sparkplug farther away from TDC.That's why the spark advance is given in 'degrees before TDC' (Top Dead Center)and those degrees are crankshaft degrees.

c/6

Hooty
