Primer Question

I'm planning on painting the old starcraft this week and have a question about primers. After priming with zinc chromate, can I apply the top coat, or should I use another primer? I am using benjamin moore M22 alkyd enamel for the top coat, comparable to interlux brightside. If i should use another primer, could you recommend one? Thanks.

BoatDr I would see what the manufacturer of the paint you are using recomends for a primer . I am using rustoleum products and used Rustoleum Laytex Aluminum Primer on mine.

Ditto...what primer does benjamin moore recommend with that paint? Chemistry of primer and color paint should be compatible or you'll be stripping and repainting again.

Best bet is to call the mfgr. of the paint and ask.

If your top coat is compatible with the zinc chromate, no further priming should be needed.
