What is the purpose of the red Switch (lever) on the primer solenoid. I have an owner's manual and OMC service manual, but I don't see anywhere what that lever does. The service manual does say that "up" position is prime and down is run. NOT HAVING any problems thus far but just curious. I thought that maybe the lever would kick up when starting the motor, but it doesn't. I hear a solenoid energizing when starting motor, but no movement for the red thing. What's up with dat?? It is a 200 HP, 2000 Johnson, carbed outboard.

Re: Primer Solenoid

It is for manual choke. Turn it clockwise for run and counterclockwise for manual choke.

Re: Primer Solenoid

Thanks. I don't guess that you would use the manual unless the quik start system wasn't working ok or something.
