Primer valve - Dumb question of the day

The red primer valve lever on my motor is not marked with 'run' and 'prime'. Which position is which? I cannot find any indication in my operator manual or my factory service manual. In position 2 the throttle/timing mechanism hits the lever so I am assuming position 1 would be run? The last motor I had with this valve was labeled. Thanks.

The first picture shows the lever in the "NORMAL" or "AUTO" position.

The second pic shows the lever in the "MANUAL" prime position which you would use if the solenoid ever fails to function. Once the engine is running, turn the lever back to the "NORMAL" position.

Thankyou OBJ, I couldn't envision from memory which was which on my other motor. That and the solenoid and valve were mounted in a different position on the V-4. I'll need to put a label on it.
