Main computer is a Windows pc operating xp professional. Our internet is thru SBC and we use a 2wire home portal for networking, this allows my laptop to connect to our DSL thru a wireless connection. The laptop also operates xp professional and it is recognized on the network by the 2wire home portal. Our printer is connected to our pc and I'm trying to be able to print with my laptop. I've gone thru the network connections wizard for each computer but my laptop still won't recognize the printer. What else should I be looking for?

On the computer that the printer is connected to, go into control panel and open up the printer folder. Right click on the printer icon and see if sharing is enabled.

Re: Printing on home network

then....goto Control Panel on other machines and add a printer. It'll ask if it's a local or network printer...pick network. Browse to find the shared printer and click to add. Keep the driver cd handy if needed....(usually not). Print a test page when asked to test.

Unless you have a print server on your system, you'll have to keep the computer with the shared printer , up and flying , to be able to print to the printer...
