About 4 years ago I cut back the neighbors arbor vitaes (over grown about 4 feet) so i could put in my fence. I put my fence about 12 inches on my property. The arbor vitae since over grown my fence. We trimmed them back again, but now they are growing into the chain link fence I put up. Makes it kinda hard to trim the lower half.

Wondering if I put in the privacy slats if that would stop the growing on the lower half?
Any suggestion from fellow boaters?

Pretty hard to stop plants, bet it would just push its way through the slats.
How about some plywood strapped to your neighbours side of the fence, it would promote the plants growth to push up not through?????

Yes, the slats will work. When arbor vitaes meet solid resistance that blocks the light, they stop. Trust me. They will however keep growing over the top of the fence.

You would rather look at a chain link fence than a plant? If the fence is to contain animals it will do so even if overgrown. Or is this an attempt to establish property lines and give you the extra couple feet of yard the plants over take?
